Mindset is New

In this post, let’s return to the acronym of Mindset…

In the July 22 post, I shared my game of creating acronyms for words, specifically the word Mindset for this blog. To continue the process:

My acronym for Mindset:

M = Made Up  (see Aug 19 post)
I   = Individual  (see Sept 10 post)
N = New
D = Different
S  = Shift
E = Evolve
T = Truth

Our personal Mindset is Made Up from our Individual experiences and by accepting information. To have a New Mindset, you have to be willing to think and explore Different perceptions which creates a Shift in your Mindset and allows you to Evolve to a new level of Truth for yourself.

Mindset is New…

Most of our mindsets are ingrained and have been for sometime. A mindset can be created whenever you choose to… however, most of the time we never even think about our mindset. We often express our opinion or state: ‘that is just the way I am.’ To develop a New Mindset, you first must become aware of your current one about a particular area. As an example, do you have the mindset of being responsible for your personal development?  Or do you believe that your development is the responsibility of the company you work for ?  Or even that you are done developing and do not need to learn anything else?

You probably are not the last reference since you are reading this blog ;-) There are many people who feel that their personal development is only what their company offers. Consider that you are the president of your own company and your main client is whoever provides you a paycheck. You would want to offer the best service possible to your client … and they would expect that for the time period that you provide a service to them. To ensure they get the best and see you as the best, then taking responsibility for your own personal and professional development guarantees you are taking care of your most valued asset— You.

A lot of companies intend to provide personal and professional development, yet have not succeeded in the last few years for various reasons. Why should their decisions impact your future? When you create the new mindset that your development is important for you regardless of the current situation of your company, then you will explore books to enhance your creative thinking processes, attend workshops to increase your communications or work style, as well as technical skills or even presentation skills.

All of your skill sets can be improved by aligning your mindset to ensure you effectively apply your skills.
