Common Courtesy – seems to be a lost concept! What I understand as common seems to have become sporadic or rare. Have you experienced that?
When your job is eliminated or you find out that the project you have spent the last 6 months on is being shelved, what is your reaction? And for how long? Do you regroup and move forward quickly or do you spin around with blame and fear?
It so easy to continue to do ‘business as usual’ regardless of what is changing around us. Yet, haven’t you found that how you did something 10 years ago or even a few years ago is not working as well today? Are you adapting to the changes or expecting everything to return to ‘normal’?

Is competition required in today’s business environment or is it time to embrace collaboration? Competition is about winning by defeating someone else; collaboration is about working together to create something. Which are you engaged in daily? Which would you rather be engaged in?
Have you ever figured something out and made a clever comment that actually belittles someone or makes them feel bad? Sometimes we think from our perspective how smart we are while not realizing the impact our comment has on someone else. Which mindset is one that increases your success? Clever and smart (aleck)? Or, Kind and caring?
Yesterday I had one of those moments in life that you know is a once in a life time opportunity. The Dalai Lama spoke in Memphis after receiving the International Freedom Award from the National Civil Rights Museum. I was blessed to be one of 1200 to hear him speak and was only about 12 rows back so I could actually see him clearly!
